What you need to know before arriving in Indonesia – flights:

You can use price comparison websites such as Skyscanner.com to find the best flight deals to Bali. Airlines flying to Bali include Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines, Scoot (part of Singapore Airlines), KLM, Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways, among others.
There are direct flights to Bali from Singapore, Australia, and many Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia. Flights from Europe and North or South America usually include one stopover.
For the best fares, we recommend booking well in advance and subscribing to airline or comparison websites for special offers and discounts.
Which airport will I fly into in Bali?
Bali has only one airport and this is Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar.
What you need to know before arriving in Indonesia – visas:
Do I need a visa for Indonesia?
Most travellers can enter Indonesia with a Visa on Arrival (VoA / e-VoA), which costs IDR 500,000 and is valid for 30 days. The visa can be extended once for another 30 days. For longer stays, the B211A Tourist Visa allows stays of up to 180 days with extensions.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months, and you may be asked to show proof of an onward flight. All travellers must also complete the online arrival declaration before flying to Indonesia.
Please also note that Bali charges an IDR 150,000 tourism levy per international visitor, which is best paid online before arrival.
For more info, you can follow this link: The Official E-visa Website for Indonesia.
Can I extend my visa?
The exact steps depend on the type of visa you hold. A standard Visa on Arrival (VoA or e-VoA) can be extended one time for an extra 30 days, giving you a maximum stay of 60 days. You must start the process at least 7 to 14 days before your current visa expires to avoid heavy overstay fines.
You can do this either on your own by visiting the immigration office or preferably through an agent. This will cost you a bit more but will save you a lot of time and hassle.
What you need to know about payments and credit cards in Bali:
What is the currency in Bali?
The currency in Bali and throughout Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). As a rough average, €1 equals around IDR 20,700, US$1 around IDR 17,900, and AUD$1 around IDR 12,700. Exchange rates can vary throughout the year.
Where can I exchange currency?
We would recommend avoiding exchanging money at the airport as exchange rates are not favourable. There are plenty of places to exchange currency in Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu. BMC money changer is one that we recommend as it is commission free. There are plenty of BMC exchange stores around Bali.
Can I get money out of an ATM?
This is relatively easy. Most ATMs accept credit and bank cards including Visa, Maestro and Cirrus and can give you Rupiahs in exchange. The maximum amount per transaction is IDR2mn. You can make approximately 5 transactions a day.
What you need to know about the weather:
What about the weather in Bali?
Bali’s climate has two seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season lasts from April to November with an average temperature of 30°C and 2-3 days’ rain a month. At night the temperature drops a bit but it is still warm and you do not need to wear a jumper or jacket. November to April is the wet season in Bali.
This means that it rains more on average compared to the dry season but there is no clear pattern. It might rain every day for a week or not rain at all. Normally, there is heavy rain for 30 minutes and then the sun comes out again. This can happen 2-3 times a day or not at all. The average temperature during the wet season is a bit higher and it tends to be more humid as well.
What about the temperature in Bali?
The temperature in Bali is from 27 – 32 °C. During the dry months and especially June to August, temperatures can reach 24°C at night.
What about the water temperature in Bali?
The water temperature in Bali is between 26°C (July/August) and 30°C (December/January). This means the water remains warm all year round.
What you need to know about the food, night life and transport in Bali:

For day trips for large groups, our sister company Bali Comfy Trips offers minibuses with drivers and flexible full-day transport services of up to 10 hours.
What about the food in Bali?
Bali has plenty of options food wise and Canggu and Seminyak are no exception. Prices are relatively cheap, ranging from an average cost of €3 or US$3.5 for local warung food (local tavern that serves buffet style food) to €4-7 or US$5-8 for an international meal or BBQ.
Is there night life in Bali?
The most popular tourist areas with vibrant nightlife are Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, and the Bukit area (Uluwatu), offering everything from beach clubs and rooftop bars to live music and late-night venues. Ubud is also a popular destination, although it has a more relaxed nightlife scene.

What type of clothes should I bring?
Lots and lots of bikinis and flip flops for wearing during the day with shorts and T-shirts. At night you might want to consider long trousers to protect you against mosquitos. Generally, bring your casual beach clothes. Bali is a very relaxed place when it comes to clothes but of course there are always some more upmarket venues if you wish to dress up.
What you need to know to stay healthy:
Do I need to get any vaccinations beforehand?
Bali is quite a safe place compared to other tropical destinations. Having said that, we still recommend a tetanus boost (1 jab in your buttocks), hepatitis A (2-3 jabs, starting 6 weeks before your trip) and typhoid (oral vaccination, 3 weeks before). Though Bali and Nusa Lembongan are classified as malaria-free, if you want to be on the safe side, a malaria prophylaxis and rabies vaccination is recommended. Act wisely to keep risk to the minimum by bringing repellents and protective clothing with you.
What's the standard of hospitals and medical care in Bali?
Medical care is up to Western standards. There are also plenty of pharmacies selling almost everything you might need from antiseptic creams to band aids quite cheaply. Of course, you can always bring your own personal pharmaceuticals if you wish.
What insurance should I take out?
It is recommended that you take out travel health insurance that covers treatment expenses and also emergency transport. This insurance is quite cheap and normally lasts for a year.
What you need to know about safety in Bali:
Is Bali safe?
Bali is relatively safe at night time as well as in the day. Nevertheless, it is always recommended to stay in groups and avoid isolated places when out at night.
What about theft?
We recommend keeping your valuables in the safety deposit box provided in your villa. You can also bring a small bag with you when going out if needed.
