Neighbourhood & Getting around
The neighbourhood:
You are really in the heart of the action here! The best of Berawa is at your fingertips – make sure you get the most out of it! Below are our top picks for an unforgettable Berawa vacation.
Hit the beach clubs!
- Atlas beach club: The can’t-miss attraction here is Atlas beach club, right across the road from your villas. You might get some noise as a result, but you also get easy access to the biggest beach club in the world. Atlas Beach Fest is a monster of a beach club: it’s not only the biggest beach club in the world, it’s also the longest beach bar in Asia. It’s not just got restaurants, bars and a giant swimming pool, it’s got department stores and even an enormous artificial waterfall. Get here for sunset cocktails and stay for the mind blowing entertainment: there’s Atlas nightclub – the biggest in Bali – right next to the beach club boasting top international DJs. But the beachclub itself is also hot on entertainment – we’ve got top notch DJs here too as well as traditional kecak fire performances, Balinese dancers, magicians, you name it.
- Finns beach club: Just a little further on is Finns beach club. You want fun? Go to Finns. It has everything, from oceanside lounging to floodlit surfing to nightclubbing. I mean, there’s FOUR pools. There’s also 9 bars, and that’s not counting the two swim up bars. I’ve lost count of how many restaurants, but plenty and some of them are casual, some are formal and some are…well, they’re crazy party places. And it’s free to get in. It’s a no brainer really, if you like a party, and who doesn’t? Just go
 Don’t miss Berawa beach
-  Berawa Beach: Just two minutes walk from your villa is Berawa beach. You’ll find sunbeds with shades available for rent at low prices and can easily buy ice cold Bintangs and soft drinks. This beach is less crazy than Legian and Seminyak and you won’t get as pestered by peddlers. It’s a great spot for enjoying sunset, and it’s also a great spot for surfing – just be aware that the waves are too big and the currents are too strong for swimming.
Best places to eat:
- Nude: The best of the breakfast to dinner cafés, Nude has recently been renovated and is oh so modern now with a Balinese twist. Great for healthy options, Nude also allows a little indulgence, with a menu that features great cocktails and burgers alongside its smoothies and salads. Truffle Mac and Cheese or veggie packed Nourish Bowl? You’re going to enjoy it either way. Top tip – head here on Friday nights for the 50 Fridays promo, when it’s 50% off the night menu, and Sangria is 50K.
- Margaret’s Bistro: One of our favourites, Margaret’s Bistro is a fusion of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine with some of the best pizzas and cocktails we’ve tried. Try the beef tartare – it’s one of the best we’ve tasted.
- Long Time: We also love Long Time, a newly opened modern Asian concept that’s dressed up in a style we can only call espionage chic. Sophisticated, cool and thoroughly delicious, we think you’ll love it too. We thoroughly recommend trying the Curious Burrata, and don’t forget the incredible cocktail list – you have to try the Old Peelings!
- Alma’s Tapas Bar: Maybe tapas is more your speed? Alma’s is a great spot to enjoy some delicious Spanish delicacies with friends. All the favourites are here – patatas bravas, albondigas, olives, plates of cheeses and cured hams, croquetas, tortilla Espanola – plus some exciting extras, like pork belly with mojo picon sauce, squid stuffed with chorizo, pork belly, apples and onions, or mushroom croquetas with truffle aioli. Don’t forget their great house wines and negronis either!
- Indigo: The art of sushi reaches its Berawa peak at Indigo, where its Japanese chef, Morita Shigehiko, fresh from a Michelin star restaurant in Kyoto, creates contemporary twists on Japanese classics, with a hint of European influence.  Top quality – and rare- ingredients are proudly and carefully sourced direct from Japan: we love the Hamachi sashimi, accentuated with green radish, nasturtium and shiso ponzu sauce. If you’re on a budget, given the lunch sets a go – this is quality food at an accessible price. The ambience is serene, with Japanese shoji doors: this place is a real treat. Be sure to book in advance.
- Ji Terrace by the Sea: Head over to Batu Bolong for Japanese fusion combined with knockout ocean views – if you’re feeling like a spicy sushi roll while you feel the breeze on a roof top terrace and watch the sun set over the Indian ocean, this is the place you need to be. The sushi is the star here –but there’s also large plates with a Japanese twist. While the food is all about Japan, the décor is Indonesian, with beautiful statues, masks and artworks from across the islands.
Best for families:
Berawa is a great location for families with children. As well as the beach, and the daytime fun at Atlas and Finns, you’ve got a wide range of other options.
- Finns recreation club: This place has everything your kids could hope for – there’s Splash Water Park with four world class waterslides plus gentler water rides for smaller children including Crazy Creek gentle water course ride. There’s also Bounce Trampoline Centre, Strike Ten Pin Bowling and Cubby House Kids Club.
- Made’s Warung: Let the kids loose here on Made Warung’s indoor and outdoor playgrounds. They also offer daycare and all sorts of workshops and activities – check out their Facebook page for the latest schedules
- Milk & Madu: This s also a good call. As well as a great brunch, they have toys and coloring paper for children as well as a cool mini-play area.
- Milu by Nook: One of our favourite cafes with great rice field views and a great menu. Milu by Nook recently reached out to younger kids by opening an on-site playground.
- Mai Main: A new opening over in Pererenan, this huge kids’ playground – the biggest in Bali! – has everything! Ball pools, slides, a flying fox ride, trampolines, soft play, sand pits, interactive video games, indoor AND outdoor playgrounds, swimming pools, a little train, a café, even a petting farm with goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and pigs to feed. It also hosts some special events like children’s foam parties, pizza making and slime making – keep an eye on their website for details.
- Tiny Café: Fabulous health-focused family friendly café with an eco friendly playground and lots for smaller children to do! There’s a play kitchen and shop, a play beauty bar, a ball pool, art workshops and much more. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.
