Seminyak shopping and a glam lunch

Head out for a browse around the shops, Seminyak is a bit of a shopper’s paradise, with the chic boutiques of Seminyak Square and Eat Street. We love Uma & Leopold for boho luxe hand embroidery that marries Balinese craftsmanship with Western style, the Bali Tailor for its custom, made to order leather designs and Lost in Paradise for affordable, iconic streetwear.

Naturally you’ll want to spend at least some time at one of Seminyak’s exclusive beach clubs. Ku De Ta fits the bill for you. It’s the Queen of the beachclub scene, understated and elegant, with amazing food. You could easily spend your whole day here and the evening too. Today, let’s go for lunch. How about a barramundi fillet fresh off the grill with a strawberry and apple sour mocktail?

For something a bit different, have a stab at creating your own perfume. At TS Suites hotel, you’ll find L’ Atelier Parfums et Créations, where you can take a 3-hour or 90-minute perfume workshop to create your own signature scent. Now that’s exclusive!

Luxury spa time

Has all that creative work left you tired and aching? No problem. Let’s hit W Bali Seminyak’s AWAY Spa. The spa to be seen in, AWAY is the number one choice for the glam set and perfect for recharging before heading out for another big night. Try a massage or rejuvenation in the Oxygen Room. It’s open from dawn to dusk, so drop in whenever you need a little pick-me-up.

A classy customer like you will be requiring the most upmarket of bars for your sunset cocktail hour. The Legian Bali’s Ocean Champagne Bar is definitely an option you should consider. This is not just any old fizzy wine. We’re talking luxury champagne brands only – Cristal, Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot, Billecart Salmon. Artisanal cocktails are on the menu too. Accompany with gourmet bites if you don’t have dinner plans – smoked salmon, mini burgers with quail eggs, prawn hot dogs.

Or we also love Alila Seminyak. It’s stylish and minimalist, just like you. Grab a seat in the Beach Bar and order a signature cocktail while the sun goes down – I love a Madam CF.

Let’s go full fine dining for dinner and book a table at iconic Merah Putih. Its grand, theatrical architecture sets the scene for its gourmet food that nods at Indonesian tradition, and its impeccable service. Blow the budget and go for the tasting menu. Or try their exquisite duck dish, Bebek Kalio.

Finish off your evening at ShiShi, Seminyak’s late night lounge and club, for an espresso martini. Here’s to you, you queen.

Seminyak Villas for Squad Goals

The best Seminyak villas for your group

And boy do we have some excellent Seminyak private villas for you to choose from. Our top pick for your squad is Mayaloka. This cool and edgy villa mixes industrial elements with tropical vegetation right in the heart of the action in the super chic Pettitenget area. You’ll enjoy starting (or finishing!) your day around the pool, sipping a morning coconut on the loungers before heading to the beach just walking distance away.

Also, top of the Seminyak villas for rent is Anam.  This 10bed villa has all the amenities you dreamed of, and a few that probably never occurred to you. There’s two pools, there’s a cinema room, there’s an actual fully equipped gym, there’s a wine cellar, there’s a juice bar. There’s even the option for having spa treatments in the comfort of your own villa. And it’s located right bang in the middle of Seminyak. Seminyak Square, Eat Street and Double Six beach are all within an easy stroll.  Shops, cafes, bars, beach clubs, beach, and even Pura Pettitenget temple are all just a short walk away.

Or, right next door to Anam, there’s more great Seminyak villas. These are Tiga Puluh, Tangram and Abakoi. Tiga Puluh is the height of luxury, with its Balinese architecture. There’s a 20m private pool that is big enough for a large group of friends. And the layout, with the bedrooms located in 7 separate bungalows that line the pool, means that everyone has their own space. Tangram and Abakoi are also fabulous villas for a large group, with their 16m pool. There’s an open pavilion too, perfect for booking in a massage. (Tangram and Abakoi villas are almost identical.)

Beachtime!

Whichever of the Seminyak private villas you choose, we definitely recommend hitting Double Six beach hard. Beautiful white sands are backed by a great selection of bars and restaurants. Rent sun loungers, treat yourselves to an inexpensive massage, take a group surf lesson, or get together for a horse ride along the beach. Make sure you stay till sunset too: settle on a beanbag, grab a cocktail, and take in the stunning views. La Plancha is the top notch choice for this.

la plancha, seminyak

Or instead, spend a chunk of your day at one of Seminyak’s famous beach clubs, Potato Head, Ku De Ta, or Sugarsand, taking in the ocean views, cocktails, pools, music and food. We love Potato Head for a day in the sun by the infinity pool followed by drinks and nibbles with sunset views on the rooftop terrace. Sugarsand is the new pretender, with amazing Japanese inspired food and cocktails.

Before you head out for your evening’s entertainment, treat yourself to a group makeover. For a fun grooming session, head for Shampoo Lounge. This place positively welcomes a group booking, so bring the whole gang and get glammed up for your big night out (the Bali Barber is right next door if you want to drop off the men there).

Fun dinner and drinks for your whole Seminyak villas gang

For dinner, you need to try the aptly named Eat Street. There’s every type of café, bar and restaurant you could imagine. But for a large group looking for a fun dinner and fun night out, we’d recommend Da Maria: it serves fantastic, authentic Italian food with lively music all night. And if you wait until 10pm, this restaurant turns into a nightclub. Or there’s La Favela, a quirky bar and restaurant by day, and a dance club by night.

la favela, seminyak

The nightlife is truly buzzing in Seminyak. Red Ruby’s mix of NYC glam and 70s underground Berlin will keep you dancing till 6am. Or there’s the upmarket Mirror Lounge and Club. It’s styled like a gothic church gone bad, with mirrored walls and towering ceilings, mosaic glass, dangling chandeliers and cherubs and crazy futuristic laser lights.

Then stroll back to your nearby villa, pour yourselves some nightcaps, and sit around the pool, chatting about your fabulous day and hatching plans to do it all again tomorrow.

Seminyak Villas for Family time

Seminyak is a great destination for families, with a whole range of exciting and fun activities for children of all ages and interests. We know that as parents, you want your kids to get the most out of this holiday, but that you also don’t want to wear yourself out – you deserve a break too! Seminyak villas are a great choice for families  – you get your own space to be as noisy as you please, you get flexible sleeping arrangements, and the cost of a villa often works out better than the cost of multiple hotel rooms. And here at Bali Comfy Villas, we’ve really got your back: for all our Seminyak private villas we can provide the safety essentials such as pool fences, cots, high chairs and we can arrange babysitting or nanny services for you too.

Tangram and Abakoi are ideal Seminyak villas for families

Of all the Seminyak villas to rent, our picks for a great, relaxing family holiday are our Abakoi and Tangram 6bed villas, just a short walk away from Double Six beach. You couldn’t ask for a better base for your family! Here the kids can play in the pools and on the lawns while you settle into your sunlounger. The bedrooms are perfectly configured to suit your family, whatever its size. Both Seminyak villas feature a family room with bunk beds: in Tangram, this fits four people, and in Abakoi, it fits six. For older children, we also have twin bedrooms. In Abakoi, there’s a special bonus, as the twin bedroom can also be interconnected with the family room, giving you even more options.

Your family day out of your Seminyak villas

Start your day in the most relaxed way possible: let the chef prepare your breakfast while the kids can run off some energy around the pool – both of these villas have a 16m pool. With butler and chef service, you can relax and put your feet up while our super friendly staff serve you 24/7.

What else can you do with your day? Well, firstly, you have to hit Double Six beach. It’s so close! The beautiful sands are ideal for kids to play freely for hours. Maybe let the older kids try horse riding or take some surf lessons. When you’re starting to feel peckish, head to Sea Circus: its bright colours and fun designs will keep the kids happy, while the food will keep everyone happy. Then how about the whole family explore the local area – there’s plenty to do wandering the streets of Seminyak, exploring the colourful market shops and sarong vendors, and enjoying frequent ice cream stops. And as this is a central area, it’s very easy to just grab a taxi when they get too tired to walk any further.

Try heading out of town

In the afternoon, grab a taxi or book a driver with Bali Comfy Villas and head to Mookiland in Kerobokan. This indoor and outdoor park has giant inflatables, ziplines, obstacle courses, trampolines, and, for the adults, a restaurant that looks out over the rice fields. Or if it’s a Sunday, check out the famous Ku De Ta beach club which hosts Family Sundays every week. Yes, Sundays see this dancing hot spot turn into kids’ activity heaven. From 10am till 2pm there’s activities like face painting or sushi making to get your little ones involved. Check out their website to see what’s on while you’re here. Booking is essential, this gets very popular!

Or try Waterbom, widely considered one of the best waterparks in Asia. With thrill slides, chill slides, dining options and a swim up bar, you’ll find plenty to do here. For those of you looking for an adrenaline hit, try the Twin Racers or Climax. If you want something more gentle, try the Lazy River, or Funtastic for smaller children.

For dinner, here’s an unusual option – book a family session at Halloween themed restaurant and entertainment venue Frankenstein’s Laboratory. Eat dinner, meet a zombie, do some scary face painting, and watch a spooky cabaret featuring the Dancing Dead and the Zombie Crew performers. For kids under 13, there’s an early evening session, with later sessions for older children and adults. Sleep well! Don’t have nightmares!

Seminyak Villas for Mind and Body

Your holiday is not about hitting the beers till the early hours – your holiday is about nurturing yourself. You want to challenge yourself physically with new activities, you want to recharge, free your mind and spirit, explore your soul. Self care is your non-negotiable. Welcome to Anam, one of the best Seminyak villas for rent for those who cherish their me time and want to push the boundaries of their spirit.

Anam 10bed villa is a little slice of heaven, standing out from all the other Seminyak villas. You can fit 20 or more people in here, but you’ll always have plenty of space to yourself. Start your day with a session in the fully equipped gym followed by a quick dip in one of the two ultra large pools.

Maybe have a spa treatment, a massage or a mani pedi in the villa’s own spa. Later, indulge in a sunset yoga session in the rooftop lounge area, and get the chef to create you a healthy dinner. If you’re feeling like treating yourself, select a great bottle of red from our wine cellar – we know you want quality over quantity.

Seek out adventure

Yes, these villas have everything you need right here – but at some point, you’ll also want to go out and explore. There’s any number of exciting activities you can try your hand at – contact Bali Comfy Trips if you want to go white water rafting, try ATV or watersports like flyboarding, parasailing, wake boarding or water skiing. Closer to home, you could take surf lessons or go horseriding on the beach.

If you want to hit the gym, Seminyak has a great selection. For Crossfit aficionados, there’s Crossfit Seminyak, which also offers weights and functional fitness classes. If Les Mills is more your speed, try Bali Fitness. Soham Wellness Centre is a brilliant all-rounder, with a large range of classes, plus a pool, a sauna, Ayurvedic spa treatments, a healing centre and a café. For strength training, it’s The Bar you need and if kickboxing is your thing, head for Daily Gym. For something a bit different, Jungle Flow is “the only Animal Flow certified centric fitness centre in Indonesia” and focuses on animal-style movement classes.

A bite to eat and a fresh new sport

Lunch? Seminyak is bursting with healthy options for you, whatever your approach. I suggest you go to Café Organic, a vegetarian café where the focus is on local, organically farmed ingredients. Fresh, nourishing bowls packed with veggies, or wraps and burgers with meat alternatives are all on the menu, along with some great juices, kombucha and smoothie bowls.

After lunch, let’s go and try out padel, the new craze sweeping Bali. Jungle Padel is the best place in Seminyak to give this Mexican born racket sport a go. It’s great fun, and Jungle Padel is great with beginners – keep an eye out for their special beginner sessions.

We know you can have your own private yoga sessions in your villa, but maybe you’d also like to practice with a class? You might like to try Oasis Studio at Blue Karma, which welcomes drop-in yogis as well as in-house guests. There’s a variety of yoga styles, plus some wellness programmes such as colonics and hydrotherapy, and a café, BKeto Bali, specializing in keto meals.

Wellness time

After all this exertion, we think you need some serious recovery time. Let’s go to The Spa at the Legian. With a luxurious heat circuit (with sauna, steam and hot and cold plunge pools), this high-end option gives you the chance to sauna either before or after your personal Wellness Concierge leads you through your personalised treatments. The Spa at the Legian takes wellness seriously, with locally inspired ingredients and rituals, plus internationally famous brands. Indulge in a full head to toe four handed massage, or one of the Ila Blessing Rituals – we love Earth, which uses Tibetan singing bowls, a slow deep massage and body polish, and leaves you feeling a great sense of stillness.

Continue your chill mood by dining with a view over the rice paddies. Serenity! Although it’s right in the thick of things on Jalan Petitenget, Sardine feels like a world away from the bustle of Seminyak. This open air restaurant is housed in a bamboo beamed building that overlooks beautiful illuminated rice paddies and lily ponds. The menu centres on freshly caught fish and seafood straight from the Indian Ocean and homegrown organic produce from the restaurant’s own farm. The perfect way to end your day of self-love.

Seminyak Villas for the Bali Explorer

You love a new experience! You want to fully experience everything Bali has to offer you. You’re interested in culture and tradition, in nature and art, in the local people and their history. You want to truly feel a sense of place, to know what it is to be in Bali.

We suggest that out of all our Seminyak private villas you choose Tiga Puluh 7bed villa. It’s not like the other Seminyak villas for rent! It has a real sense of Balinese style and tradition – but brought right up to date with contemporary finishes and all the amenities you expect.  It’s rustic yet luxurious design ensures you know you’re in Bali. With its seven bedrooms set around the 20m pool and gardens, it’s light and airy and there’s plenty of space for everyone.

luxury bali accommodation, seminyak

Start your day embracing the Balinese sunshine – throw open the doors of your master suite and take in the view of the huge pool and garden area, with its traditional Javanese gladak structure  – maybe you’ll have a massage on the daybeds there later. Let the chef prepare you a local style breakfast (Western style options are also available) and enjoy it on the dining table with its views out over the garden – and plan your day ahead.

Make like a local

If you’re an early riser, head for Seminyak’s traditional market. The Taman Sari market, also known locally as Pasar Taman Sari, is located near the southwest corner of the Petitenget and Kerobokan junction. The stalls open at dawn, when all the buyers from the local restaurants and hotels descend on it to stock up fruit for the day. Here you can get a bag full of mangoes and mangosteen for a dollar or so – most products aren’t marked with prices and you can bargain with the stall keepers. Inside the main building, you can buy flowers, flower offerings, fresh produce and housewares.

pasar taman sari

Seek out culture

Now, let’s unearth some of Seminyak’s hidden treasures. Tucked away behind designer boutiques and restaurants is a real cultural and historical treasure. Petitenget Temple (also known as Pura Petitenget) is one of Bali’s six important sea temples which line the coast from Uluwatu to Tanah Lot, guarding the island. Follow the dragon staircase up to the courtyard, where you can see small shrines draped in Balinese checked cloths. Try to make it here on a weekend morning, when young Balinese girls can be found rehearsing traditional dance in the Bale Agung pavilion across from the temple.

Next to Pura Petitenget is the smaller Pura Masceti, a temple of agriculture where locals pray for crop protection or rain. If you’re very lucky, you might catch its anniversary celebrations which take place every 210 days. You’ll see crowds of tourists come to pray in their best clothes, and the temple adorned with bright decorations.

petitenget temple, bali

After this, you need to sample some of the most classic Balinese dishes – as authentically as possible. Babi Guling (suckling pig), the most iconic of the local dishes, is a must try for those who eat pork. Served with rice, pork sausage, urapan (salad with coconut chilli dressing) is spice rubbed, spit roasted pork with crispy skin thanks to hours of slow roasting. Head to Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen for one of the best examples of this dish on the island.

Try out Balinese beauty secrets

Give the Western style beauty treatments the cold shoulder this afternoon and instead try the treatment that Balinese women swear by – the cream bath. This traditional hair treatment delivers shiny hair and is a godsend for hair that’s spent a little too long in the Balinese sunshine. It starts with a head, neck and shoulder massage before the homemade mask is applied and left to do its magic under a steamer. Try Bodyworks in Pettitenget –  there’s also authentic Balinese massages, plus Indonesia’s facial secret, the Javanese mandi lulur scrub using turmeric, sandalwood, cinnamon and rice powder, pretty mani-pedis and a flower bath to finish it all off.

Interested in Balinese art? Seminyak boasts two interesting art galleries you should check out. The Nyaman Gallery showcases contemporary local artists, as well as a small and well curated selection of international artists. The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, ceramics, hand blown glass, wooden carvings from the East Nusa Tenggara region, wearable art and home décor – and most of it is for sale.

balinese art at nyaman gallery, seminyak

We also recommend the Theatre Art Gallery. This centres on traditional, intricate Indonesian puppets known as wayang. These are used in traditional Balinese puppet shows. The exhibition showcases both antique and contemporary puppets, and is a must for anyone interested in local art and culture.

Authentic food and drinks

It must be nearly cocktail hour now. For something with a little more local flavour than the big beach clubs, try Mari Beach Club. Its river shaped infinity pool and use of traditional Balinese design make it stand out from the crowd, while local ingredients shine in the artisanal cocktails and dining menu.

mari beach club, batu belig bali

To round off your day, you need to sample the best of Indonesian food. Kaum is a restaurant that plays homage to its heritage with its elevated traditional Indonesian dishes. It’s not just the food that pays its respects to the rich cultural traditions of the archipelago; the dining room is designed to reflect this with motifs from Torajan wood carvings, while local tableware graces the long communal tables that encourage guests to eat in the family-style manner of Indonesia’s tribes. Try the Journey Through the Archipelago menu which showcases the very best of Indonesian food. Delicious!
