What is New in Seminyak Bali
So you think you know Seminyak? Well, think again! We’re here to give you the lowdown on things to do in Seminyak. We’ll tell you what’s new around here for 2024, where to go and what to do.
Eating out in 2024: brunch and coffee breaks
It will come as no surprise to anyone that the lion’s share of the buzzing new hotspots in Seminyak are Seminyak restaurants. High-end eateries, cafes, bars, beachside dining – you got it – there’s something new here for you to try out.
32do: Seoul-ful Coffee and Cake
If you’re a fan of café culture, you have to try the new Korean coffee house, 32do. This uber cool new concept redefines recaffeination. Coffee, Jeju Tea, and Bingsoo (if you’re out of the loop, this is a Korean shaved ice dessert) all await you in this quirky Instagrammer’s dream of a café.
This artisanal back yard bakery is a delight, with its interiors centred around natural materials and greenery, and its baked goods and ferments a treat for your tastebuds. Open from 7.30am until they run out, pop in here for a folded egg toast and coffee kombucha for breakfast, a pulled pork sando for lunch, or a Basque cheesecake and a smoothie for a mid afternoon pick me up.
If you love a high end pastry baked with care and precision, you can’t miss the new Seminyak branch of Patisserie by Ultimo. Their bakes are works of art – try the opera cake or the Abon onigiri and prepare to be amazed. There’s also a breakfast and lunch menu for those looking for something more substantial.
Eating out in 2024: exciting new Seminyak restaurants
The newness does not stop at lunchtime! New Seminyak restaurants are appearing every month, and we will never grow tired of finding new places to eat!
Saltlick: Beach Club Classic Ku De Ta gets a brand new steakhouse
Ocean views from every table and culinary excellence on every plate. Chef Jeremy Hunt goes farm to table in this new restaurant tucked away above Bali’s classic beach club. House drying and ageing combines with chargrilling to give a smokey edge to every dish, be it steak, fish or veggie. Don’t skip the cocktails!
The Dome: Potato Head gets in on the new beach club restaurant act
Not to be outdone by Ku De Ta, Potato Head has also had a restaurant glow up. The Dome at Potato Head, nestled by the poolside, is an exciting new casual eats destination centring on natural wines and small bites of locally sourced, minimal intervention deliciousness.
Sumak: Turkey comes to Eat Street
With its Turkish inspired interiors with traditionally woven carpets and kilim, signature clay red walls and ornate hanging lights, Sumak ushers visitors into the heart of Anatolia. The menu relies upon authentic imported ingredients and fresh daily baking.
Eating out in 2024: exciting new Seminyak restaurants with Asian flavours
Komodo: Pan Asian restaurant and bar
Chef Wayan, previously of Mamasan and Sarong, brings to Seminyak a new journey through the cuisines of Asia, with small bites and sharing plates the order of the day. Offering food and drinks from brunch through to late night, Komodo is a reliably crowd-pleasing addition to the Seminyak restaurant scene.
Fu House: Modern Thai hits Seminyak
Expected to open in July 2024, Fu House will be all about merging tradition with innovation, heightening classic Thai techniques and dishes to give them an exciting modern edge with complex flavours.
Okuzono: Japanese dining in Pettitenget
This modern izakaya lifts comforting classics with contemporary flair to create an authentic Japanese experience in Seminyak. It’s not just sushi! Keep an eye out for special events like Taiko drumming and children’s sushi making sessions.
Things to do in Seminyak -Nightlife edition!
There is no shortage of places to dance or drink the night away in Seminyak but you can’t blame us for welcoming a few more. If you want to hit some tequila shots and dance or if you want to escape to a fantasy world nightclub, we’ve got new spots for you to try.
Malverde – Tequila!!!
Brand new tequileria – Bali’s first and only – Malverde offers a curated selection of tequila paired with gourmet tapas and marries it with hot tunes to dance to all night long. It’s a bargain too, with all you can eat tacos and tapas, bottomless margaritas and daiquiris daily from 7pm to 11pm for 199k IDR. There’s also exclusive tequila tastings, plus Malverde is open late, so plenty of time to down those shots and also show off your finest moves on the dancefloor.
Iron Fairies: Magical nightlife destination
A nightclub like no other, newcomer Iron Fairies exists in a fantasy driven setting inspired by Western Australia’s iron ore mines. Live bands, DJs, a creative menu and a great cocktail list lift this venue above many of its competitors in a crowded market. This place should be top of your list of things to do in Seminyak if you love a party.
Let’s go shopping
Seminyak is the queen of the shopping scene, with new openings continuing apace.
Be Kynd and buy clothes
One of our favourite brunch spots, Kynd, has branched out into retail with its brand new Koncept By Kynd, a clothing and accessories boutique, located directly in front of their Seminyak restaurant. The store sells clothing created by the owners’ friends and family as well as their own labels, cussp and lalu label. We love their maxi dresses and swimwear.
Urban Quarter – for all things for the home
Summer 2024 saw the opening of Urban Quarter’s first store in Bali, a furniture store with a great line in cute interior accessories, especially pottery and soft furnishings. We love their tableware!
Sports lovers – if you want new things to do in Seminyak, try your hand at Padel
Bali is heaving with world class fitness amenities – Seminyak has some extremely well equipped gyms, yoga studios, bootcamps, sports centres and there’s any number of options for trying out new activities across the island, from surfing to wild water rafting to horse riding.
But right now, everyone is going crazy for a little racket sport which came all the way from Mexico to grace Bali’s shores. It’s not just fitness, it’s fun too: it’s a social game which is great to play with your friends. You can try out padel tennis all across the island but while you’re in Seminyak, we’d like to point you in the direction of Jungle Padel, located in Kerobokan. Jungle Padel boasts of being the first padel club in Indonesia and now has five branches. With excellent coaching and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, Jungle Padel is a good choice for players of any level, including children. Keep an eye out for special events – they often hold sessions specifically for beginners.
Treat yourself to the latest in wellness
Bali is a beacon for wellness trends, so it’s no surprise that all the latest treatments are hitting the streets of Seminyak. If you’re short of things to do in Seminyak, why not try out the latest in health and beauty hacking?
High tech hacks – biotech your way to health at Terapung Float Club
Biohacking is sweeping the globe and Seminyak is no exception. Using technology to optimize our health manifests in cell-regenerating red light therapy, infrared saunas, float tanks, extreme hot and cold plunges and cryotherapy (immersing in sub-zero temperatures). The best place to experience this in Seminyak is Terapung Float Club. Their speciality is open air salt water float tanks but there is a whole range of biohacks here – infrared saunas, ice baths and cell renewing Red Light Therapy.
Try a facial massage instead of skin products at Blue Karma Dijawa
The movement away from cosmetic skin improvements and towards facial muscles stimulation and lymphatic drainage has hit Seminyak. Blue Karma Dijawa offers a Kobido Japanese face massage for an all-natural face lift and total relaxation.
Things to do in Seminyak – Kids edition!
There’s never a shortage of things to do with children in Seminyak, but 2024 is bringing us some more exciting options to add to the list.
Waterbom isn’t strictly speaking in Seminyak, but it’s a must do for families staying in Seminyak. Plus, for 2024 it’s got a whole lot bigger! The new 1.3 hectare expansion includes a sunken pool bar, tropical lagoon pool, 20-meter-tall slide tower, and viewing platform. There’s also bamboo gazebos, a spa and massage area, restaurants, and four new thrilling slides.
Kids yoga is sweeping Bali for 2024! If your kids are up on their downward dogs, try Sweet Potato Kids at Desa Potato Head, a yoga session especially for children. Check their website for the latest schedules.
If your children are more about skating than yoga, then you’ll be interested to know that Amplitude Skate Park in Kerobokan launched three exciting new bowls in June 2024. Measuring over 1300m², there’s an Olympic-sized main bowl, a medium bowl, and a fun bowl. Amplitude welcomes kids and offers lessons for all ages. And a little further south on Kuta Beach, between Beachwalk and the Hard Rock Café, is a brand new skate park. This one has smooth bowls, street courses, ramps and rails. It’s free to enter, but you’ll need to bring your own boards.
Ah, Seminyak. Never a dull moment and always something new – and we love it.
